Photography
I live in a secret garden. I have seen and lived in several secret gardens in my life. This one I have been in for the past 20 years. I have recorded many creatures over the years, all within the same quarter of a mile (402.3 meters) of Texas soil. In the air, on the back of a leaf or stem, tucked into a fork of a branch in a tree, life presents itself.
Prey and predator, adults incubating or caring for young, silent hunters, skins discarded and plumage fluffed—all are busy hunting, attracting or repelling, metamorphosing through their allotment of time. I take my camera; I move quietly; I look; then I see.
Lastly, I must mention my lifelong fascination with camouflage. I hope you return to my work—for another look—to see that you haven’t missed anything...
